I believe that safety and comfort in the therapeutic relationship is vital as it allows each person the space to give words and emotions to their experience. Each individual is the expert of their own life, and my job is to offer skills to support each person as they work towards the change they want. My goal is to help people to understand the triggers and factors that increase distress, and to gain a sense of mastery through managing them. While trauma can be a single event, it is often complex, intergenerational and cyclical. With the strength of the rapport built, and evidenced based techniques, we can work together towards healing.
My clinical experience includes working with children, adults, couples, and families to support change through trauma informed care. I treat symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and substance use. I work from a social justice, anti-racist and feminist perspective, and recognize that individual and systemic oppression impacts mental and physical health. I enjoy working with clients of all genders, sexualities, racial and ethnic backgrounds in an individual or couples setting. I am trained in EMDR, ACT, DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing. However, I come from a person centered, Rogerian, and strengths-based perspective, and I will meet each person where they are in their personal journey.
